Motor City and Motown: Detroit.
Henry Ford the son of a farmer in 1896 built his first car in Detroit, later the moving assembly line method of building cars that he devised put the world on wheels. Berry Gordy Jr, another former auto worker started a record company in the 20th century which brought some of the greatest names to fame including, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross and others under the Motown label.
Established as a fort in 1701 on the northern banks of the Detroit River by French explorer Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, Detroit through constant change, dedicated hard work and revitalization has become a major port city and a cultural and commercial hub of modern America.
With over two hundred must see attractions Detroit can be quite a handful for the visiting tourist.
